Course Description
Beyond the Academy is a pistol-only training course designed for recent police academy graduates, reserve officers, newly hired officers, and experienced personnel who need a professional skills refresher.
This course moves beyond static qualification and focuses on the practical application of duty-pistol fundamentals under increased speed, pressure, movement, and decision-making demands.
Training Includes Precision pistol shooting Duty-holster presentation Grip and recoil management Flash sight picture versus precision sighting Target and visual transitions Accuracy at speed Shooting while moving Use of cover and positional shooting Strong-hand and support-hand shooting Reloads and malfunction management Threat identification and decision-making Partner communication and coordinated movement
Students will learn how to adjust their speed and level of sight confirmation based on target size, distance, and consequence. Training emphasizes accountable hits, efficient weapon handling, muzzle awareness, and the ability to safely operate around another armed officer.

This is not a beginner handgun course. Participants must demonstrate safe firearm handling and basic proficiency from the holster.
